Automated External Defibrillator

Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

The ZOLL program and AED Plus are designed to enhance a victim's chance of survival by making it possible for a rescuer to effectively respond in ways that the rescuer with just an AED could not. The "Chain of Survival" taught by the American Red Cross and AHA is designed to optimize a patient's chance for survival of a sudden cardiac arrest. This concept has four links in the chain - early access, early cardiopulmonary resuscitation, early defibrillation, and early advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) - all deemed critical to a patient's survival. From ABC assessment to defibrillation and CPR, the ZOLL AED Plus is the first and only AED that guides rescuers through the entire rescue process.

Auto Electric Defibrillator (AED)

Supports complete Chain of Survival

  • The ZOLL AED Plus is the only AED that provides graphical, text and voice prompts that help coach the rescuer through AED/CPR delivery during the high stress of a response, helping the rescuer do the most important things, and do them well.
  • The ZOLL AED Plus's backlit screen allows a rescuer to use the device effectively even in the dark should there be a power outage.
  • The ZOLL AED Plus, with its brilliant graphics, text and voice prompts, was designed to allow a rescue to be made by the hearing or visually impaired.

Supports Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Not just defibrillation (more than a 2-button shock box)
  • Instantaneous feedback
  • A critical link in the "Chain of Survival". The AED Plus's CPR Feedback provides audio and visual cues that help prevent the two most common errors of CPR: inadequate depth and inadequate rate. The AED Plus delivers voice prompts to let the rescuer know if they are doing good compressions or need to push harder while its adaptive metronome leads the rescuer to the recommended 100 compressions-per-minute rate.
  • The ZOLL AED Plus is the only AED that helps a rescuer perform effective CPR

Supports the rescue of ALL unresponsive victims

  • About half of unresponsive victims need no shock
  • 100% of them need CPR!

One-piece pad: Simple electrode placement

  • Ordinary AEDs require the correct placement of two electrodes.
  • The AED Plus features CPR-D Padz - a one-piece, pre-connected electrode.
  • Its design virtually eliminates rescuer confusion by using the simplest landmark available for CPR hand placement: the "sternum between the nipples".
  • The electrode comes complete with rescue essentials and tamper-evident seals, and it lasts for four years - the longest shelf life of any electrode.

Lithium Manganese batteries: Simple, low-cost replacement

  • The ZOLL AED runs on inexpensive, commercially available lithium batteries which have an in-unit life of five (5) years - the longest shelf life of any AED battery.
  • These are the same batteries used by the US Military in various pieces of vital equipment, such as night vision goggles and chemical warfare suits.

The ZOLL AED Plus combines superior biphasic defibrillation
(officially recognized by FDA) with fast and simplified electrode placement.

  • Only the ZOLL Rectilinear Biphasic Waveform has proven its clinical superiority for defibrillating VF in high-impedance patients.
  • It also reduces exposure to high peak current and keeps an optimal waveform shape over a wide range of patient variability - enhancing efficacy while reducing the risks of inappropriate currents.

ZOLL offers a 24-hour/7day/week 800 support line for technical advice and support. ZOLL will provide loaner units through its 24-hour Technical Service department if any unit requires service
